In order to provide a safer beach going environment for all concerned, the City of Myrtle Beach and Horry County have enacted some new tent rules for beachgoers. The new rules allow for emergency workers and vehicles better access in case they are needed.
The new rules state that tents can not be larger than 12 feet by 12 feet, and there must be at least 10 feet apart between tents. Tents must set them up on the land side of the lifeguard’s umbrella line and they must be must secured with lines that don’t stick out from the tent’s borders. Tents cannot go up before 8 a.m. and they must be taken down by 7 p.m.
The help avoid confusion, Surfside Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Horry Country controlled beaches all approving roughly the same rules.
